Louisiana Startup Engages U.S. RE

Lighthouse Property Insurance Company, formed in 2008 to insure residential properties in Louisiana, has engaged U. S. RE to place catastrophe reinsurance for its growing book of business. The Company was launched with $15 million of homeowners’ premium taken out of the State-run residual market and expects to write $20 million in the first year. Lighthouse also filed a program of more extensive coverage that will be a platform for growth in the voluntary market.
The reinsurance has been placed in the London and Bermuda markets. Arthur Dougherty, U.S. RE Senior Vice President, worked with Ronald Chapman, President of Lighthouse on the program.
