Fabio Leone Joins Basel Office

Some say English is becoming the global language of business, but anyone who can converse with clients and prospects in their own language has a competitive advantage. The staff at U.S. RE's European headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, communicates with business partners in their own language in 11 different European countries. The newest member of the team, Fabio Leone, speaks Italian, French, and German, as well as English. Other members of the Basel team also speak Danish, plus a Scandavian blend of Norweigan and Swedish, and that special brand of German only spoken in parts of Switzerland.

Mr. Leone comes to U.S. RE from the Swiss branch of Aon Re where he produced, marketed, and placed European reinsurance business into various international markets. He previously served with Aon, and Minet Reinsurance Brokers in London.

"Fabio brings six years of insurance and reinsurance experience to our European operation. He has an outstanding track record and will be a great asset to U.S. RE," said Mark Lucas, Director of U.S. RE Corporation and head of U.S. RE's Basel office, in announcing the appointment of Mr. Leone as Assistant Vice President. U.S. RE Europe is part of U.S. RE's recently formed International Division that is headed by Senior Vice President Christopher Lister, who joined with Mr. Lucas in welcoming Mr. Leone.

Mr. Leone holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International and European Commercial Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom. He studied also at the University of Milan and the European School in Varese, Italy. He's been playing drums and other percussion instruments for 19 years and the acoustic guitar for seven (but currently not in the office).
