U.S. RE PEOPLE - Brian McGuire, Senior Vice President & Director of U.S. RE Corporation

Editor's Note: Here's another in our series of occasional profiles of U.S. RE people, the talented, professional, dedicated executives and staff who make up the U.S. RE team.

Brian McGuire is an original member of the U.S. RE team. At the tender age of 29 he left a budding career at Guy Carpenter & Company to join with Tal Piccione, Joe Fedor, and Dick Davies in the challenging task of starting a new firm in the reinsurance brokerage business where relationships typically went back for decades, sometimes generations. It was a venturesome decision but it turned out to be the right one for Brian as he moved steadily ahead. Last year, approaching 40, his contributions were rewarded with election to the Board of Directors of U.S. RE Corp., Inc.

Brian joined Guy Carpenter after graduating from Niagara University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance. He spent eight years at Carpenter where he learned the reinsurance business and was soon tagged as a young man with a bright future. He began in the Reinsurance Accounting Division at Carpenter and quickly advanced to work on medium and large company primary and retrocessional programs. Then he was off to London where he worked as a reinsurance broker of U.S. business into Lloyd's and the U.K. company market.

At U.S. RE, Brian's talent and growing expertise made him a resource turned to by his associates for advice and guidance in a wide variety of areas. He is U.S. RE's resident guru on the London market. He makes frequent trips to Japan where U.S. RE has clients of long standing. And, importantly, he is a mentor to younger brokers in the Company.

When he's not on an airplane or the cell phone, he enjoys sailing, skiing, and tennis. Brian ser ves on the Board of Governors of the Bay Shore Yacht Club on Long Island where he lives. Most of all he treasures time spent with his wife, Nina, of 17 years and his three children, Brian, Kyle, and Kara.
