Second Quarter CAT Claims Hit $3.7 Billion

ISO's Property Claims Service reported recently that property/casualty companies are expected to pay homeowners, businesses, and auto owners an estimated $3.7 billion in catastrophe claims for the second quarter. This will rank the 2006 2nd Quarter as the fourth highest in insured catastrophe claim payments for a second quarter in the past 10 years. For the first half, total estimated cat payments add up to $5.2 billion. Second quarter losses caused nearly one million claims from insured damage in 24 states and the District of Columbia.
