Shatoff Named Director Of U.S. RE Corporation

New York, NY - Larry Shatoff, Senior Vice President of U.S. RE Corp., has been named to the Corporation's Board of Directors, Tal P. Piccione, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, announced.

U.S. RE Corporation is the reinsurance brokerage arm of U.S. RE Companies, Inc., an international financial services group that provides reinsurance and wholesale brokerage services, consulting, alternative risk financing and securitization, underwriting management, captive insurance facilitation, and venture capital investments in insurance related properties.

Mr. Shatoff joined U.S. RE in 1999 with a mandate to grow the Company's business in the specialty program and managing general agency arena. "We're well pleased with Larry's leadership in a variety of areas where he has found effective solutions for clients, and we welcome his strategic counsel as a Board member," Mr. Piccione said. Among the lines where Mr. Shatoff has produced an expanding book of business are Professional Liability, Non-Standard Auto, Trucking, and Commercial Property.

He came to U.S. RE from Balis & Company in Philadelphia where he built a reputation as a top broker for Specialty Company and MGA business. Earlier, he served as a reinsurance broker at Towers Perrin in Philadelphia, after working as a general management consultant for insurance clients. He began his insurance career as an actuary at Prudential Property and Casualty.

Mr. Shatoff holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Duke University. Before joining the insurance industry, he spent four years as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.
