April 12, 2005 Ponte Vedra, FL - John E. Rogan, a seasoned Florida insurance executive with senior management experience in the company and agency sides of the business, has been elected President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunshine State Insurance Company (SSIC), John Lombardo, Board Chairman, announced. Lombardo also reported the election of Richard L. Ervin, Jr. as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Ervin has served as CFO at three insurance companies over the last 18 years. Both men are moving up at Sunshine. Rogan previously served as Vice President Marketing and Commercial Underwriting. Ervin served as Vice President and CFO.
"We're especially pleased to name two top officers who know the Company and the Florida/Southeastern U.S. insurance markets," Lombardo said. Sunshine State, a major force in the Florida Homeowners' market, recently merged with QualSure Insurance Company and is growing it operations in South Carolina where Sunshine writes Homeowners' and Builders' Risk.
"QualSure's operations are being seamlessly assumed by Sunshine to provide enhanced service to agents and policyholders," Rogan stated. Prior to joining Sunshine in 1999, Rogan was Vice President of CGU Insurance Company for the State of Florida. He successfully integrated the Florida operations of General Accident and Commercial Union after the two companies merged. Earlier, he was Vice President and Agency Manager of Naughton Insurance Services, Jacksonville, FL, a multi-line agency writing business across the U.S. He also served as Vice President for six years with CIGNA Property and Casualty Companies in Jacksonville.
Ervin also joined Sunshine in 1999. Earlier, he served as Senior Vice President, CFO, and Director of American Surety and Casualty Insurance Company. Prior to joining American Surety, he was Vice President, CFO, and Director of Old Dominion Insurance Company.
