Investment Risk Product
A new reinsurance product that effectively combines insurance risk with investment risk has been developed by U.S. RE - Europe and is available through all U.S. RE offices. Known as TRIP (Technical Results and Investment Portfolio) and reported in CFO Magazine, the product has proved to be an attractive alternative to the traditional hedging arrangements offered by the capital markets and reinsurers. TRIP protects an insurer's basic loss ratio on a stop-loss basis and thereby allows the insurer to simplify his reinsurance program. Since TRIP can be placed on a single or multi-year basis, the insurer obtains greater flexibility and stability in the protection program.

Environmental Insurance Product
An Environmental Insurance Product has been launched by one of the largest Swedish insurance companies, the LF Group. This new environmental insurance will be offered to Producers, Importers and Distributors (PID's) of larger consumer goods in Sweden. PID's are responsible for the proper handling and recycling of the products at the time when the products are scrapped and recycled. The purpose of this new insurance is to relieve the policyholder of the open-ended liability that a PID may encounter. U.S. RE - Europe, in cooperation with the LF Group and a number of selected reinsurers, has developed a reinsurance structure that grants the client protection for the overall result of operations.

Retro Facility
U.S. RE has created the U.S. RE Catastrophe Retrocessional Facility which has harnessed in excess of $100 Million of worldwide retrocessional catastrophe capacity from several of the most prominent reinsurers in the world. The facility is being made available to those professional reinsurance company executives who believe that retrocessional pricing is uneconomical.
